Drawing a Pig
Step 1:
To start this guide on drawing a pig, we will draw some shapes that will make it easier to draw your pig later. We’ll draw three intersecting ovals using the reference image as a guide. For this step, it is recommended to use a lighter pencil to draw these shapes because we will erase them later.
This step would be much easier if you used a drawing compass to create the ovals. This first step will become more accessible if you carefully follow the picture. Once you have drawn the ovals, you can draw a curved line through the top two ovals, as shown in the picture.
Step 2:
Once you have drawn your shapes in pencil, you can start outlining your pig drawing. Using the ovals you drew earlier as a guide, you can carefully draw the head and ears. The ovals you drew will help keep the pig’s head in the right shape.
I recommend not erasing the pencil lines until the next step because we’ll use the other oval you drew as a guide for the body.
Step 3:
For this step of our guide to drawing a pig, we’ll use the other oval you’re drawing as a guide. You can trace most of it with a pen, leaving space at the bottom where the legs will go. Once you are happy with the head and body of your pig drawing, you can erase the ovals you drew in step 1.
If you drew on a pencil with a pen, make sure the ink is dry before you start erasing! If you start erasing too soon, you risk smudging the ink if it gets wet.
Step 4:
In the next step of our guide on how to draw a pig, we will add legs and a tail. This pig will have these cute little stubby legs, so they’ll be short and intense when you add them.
The reference picture will show you how you could make them. Once the legs are drawn, you can add a little corkscrew tail using a few simple curved lines like the one in the picture.
Step 5:
Your pig drawing is almost done now and needs a friendly face! Our reference image has a smiling face for your little piggy, so you can try to replicate it using ovals, circles, and curved lines.
You can also change some elements for a unique look for this stage. For example, you can change your pig’s facial expression by changing details such as eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. Space is abundant for you to get innovative!
Step 6:
At this moment, you have successfully pulled a pretty epicure view! It’s a feat, but your pig drawing isn’t finished yet. You still have one more step to do, but it’s also the most fun! Your pig drawing needs some nice colors, and the reason this is such a fun step here is that you can show off your creativity.
