Google Pixelbook 12in

The Google Pixelbook is a laptop that combines the best of both worlds: It’s got a high-quality display with an excellent keyboard and trackpad, but it also runs Android apps. As someone who likes to use my PC for writing and editing, I was interested in this device for several reasons. It helps that the Chromebook Pixelbook 12in has an excellent build quality and offers performance you’d hope from a premium laptop with a touchscreen. However, there are some drawbacks that keep me from recommending it as my go-to device (even though I could).

Good Things

The Pixelbook 12in is a powerful and well-made laptop that’s perfect for anyone who wants the ultimate in productivity. It’s not just fast, it’s also well-designed, with sturdy construction and an excellent display that could rival some desktop monitors.

The performance of this machine is excellent—it handled everything I threw at it without any problems whatsoever, including photo editing and video rendering with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 on Google Cloud Platform (which we’ll talk about later).

– Performance

The Pixelbook is a great choice for productivity and media consumption. If you’re looking to do some serious work on the go, this is your laptop. For example:

  • You can easily edit video and images in Adobe Premiere Pro CC or Photoshop CC using an external monitor (the Pixelbook comes with one).
  • Games are fun when they don’t take forever to load up or crash all the time! And this one doesn’t crash at all unless I’m playing Fortnite on my laptop while sitting at home because no other game has ever been able to handle my internet connection speeds like Fortnite does.

– Build quality

The Pixelbook 12in is built from a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber, which gives it a sturdy feel. It weighs just 2.2 pounds—about as much as an iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 4 —but you will notice that it’s much lighter than other laptops in this range (and even some ultrabooks).

The Pixelbook 12in also has solid hinges, which means that it feels like you could chuck it against a wall without worrying about breaking something. The keyboard backlight is powered by LEDs rather than LCDs, so there are no distracting reflections on your screen when typing at night or during daylight hours outdoors.

Bad Things

The design of the Pixelbook is quite good. It’s a 12-inch laptop, so it’s big enough to be comfortable on your lap or in one hand. The build quality is solid and the hinge is sturdy, but there are some things that could use improvement:

  • The screen is not as bright as we’d like it to be at maximum brightness; it’s not bad but if you’re going somewhere that requires lots of sunlight then this may become an issue for you. You can turn down its brightness using the power button (or by pressing Fn + Esc) which will lower its output from 100% down to around 50%. This does make things look better overall though so don’t worry about turning off all those extra pixels!
  • Battery life was also an issue for us because even though our unit came with a larger battery than usual (3000mAh instead of 2500mAh), when we used them side-by-side with each other they still didn’t last long enough between charges—especially considering how much web browsing we did over our three weeks testing period!

– Design

The design of the Pixelbook 12in is not the best. It’s a bit old-fashioned, and it doesn’t have as good a look as other laptops from Google.

– Battery life

The battery life on the Pixelbook is good, but not great. It’s comparable to other laptops in its class, which means you’ll get around 10 hours of use between charges. If you’re looking for something that can last through the day without needing a recharge (and who isn’t), this is definitely an area where Google has improved over time.

The original Pixelbook had one of the best batteries we’ve ever seen from any laptop—so it’s disappointing that Google didn’t follow suit with its successor. While the 12-inch version doesn’t have quite as much juice inside as its smaller sibling does, having access to all four USB Type-C ports makes up for some lost power when compared with something like Apple’s MacBook Air 13 (which has just two).

Google Pixelbook 12in is not a perfect laptop.

While the Google Pixelbook 12in is not a perfect laptop, it still has some good things and bad things. The good things are performance, build quality and design. The bad things are battery life and design.

The first thing you’ll notice about this machine is its build quality. It feels solid in your hands with a nice matte finish on top of it (which I don’t love). It also weighs just over 2 pounds so you can easily carry around with one hand if needed!

The second thing you’ll notice about this machine is its design: simple yet elegant at the same time! There aren’t any buttons on either side (aside from power button) so everything moves smoothly when typing or surfing webpages — which makes me think this laptop would make an excellent gift for anyone who loves simplicity in their daily lives too 🙂

Conclusion

We’re not going to say that the Pixelbook is perfect because it has its issues. For example, this laptop’s battery life isn’t the best, but it isn’t terrible either. It also lacks some features that we would have liked to see from Google. But if you want a Chromebook with top-of-the-line performance and an all-day battery life, then this might be just what you need!
