DTG Printing – What Is It?

DTG printing (direct printing, digital to garment printing) is a digital printing technology that allows you to print directly on clothing and other textiles. DTG printing uses industrial printers similar to classic inkjet printers. However, they have heads and inks adapted to print on cotton and other textiles. This method does not require the preparation of matrices, plates or screens (characteristic of screen printing), and the graphics from the project (e.g. company logo, advertising slogan) are transferred directly to the fabric. DTG digital printing allows you to easily obtain gradients (tone transitions), without affecting the printing cost (in screen printing, the number of colors affects the price of prints, because each color must have a separate matrix).

Each printer capable of digital trapstar  printing using DTG technology has a platform that transports the medium (clothes for printing) and inks. Certified water-based paints are used for prints, which are absorbed by the fabric fiber and stay on them well.

Digital Printing With DTG Technology – Application

DTG digital printing is one of the newest techniques that are perfect for decorating advertising clothing. This technology is profitable especially for small (starting from 1 piece) and medium quantities.

In this way, you can put a company logo, advertising slogans prepared for a specific campaign and other designs on clothes or other advertising textiles. The advantage of prints made using DTG is the ability to apply many colors and excellent detail reproduction. This allows you to transfer even complex designs to textiles (e.g. advertising T-shirts), perfectly matching your brand identification or a promotional campaign designed for a new product. The  chrome hearts  prints do not crumble, do not crack and are practically imperceptible to the touch. It is worth emphasizing that the DTG print does not burden clothing and allows air to pass through well, allowing the skin to breathe (unlike stickers).

DTG prints are slightly less resistant to washing than those made using screen printing or computer embroidery, which is why they work better in advertising textiles than for typical workwear. T-shirts and other clothing with the DTG print should be washed inside out, at 30 degrees C (which may make it difficult to remove stains, e.g. in the catering, hotel or commercial industries).

DTG Printing – Opinions

In our opinion, DTG printing is a better solution for white clothing. On colored surfaces it requires additional pre-pigmenting. Predrigment is a colorless primer that blocks the absorption of the white primer paint into the material and protects the entire print. This liquid comes off the clothes after the first wash. However, its scent and shine are still slightly noticeable. DTF prints work much better on colorful clothes. If the printing pattern allows you to change the printing technology from DTG to DTF, we recommend this choice to our customers.

Both DTG on white T-shirts and DTF on colored T-shirts are durable prints that collect positive opinions among customers.
